Estimator

Job Summary

The Estimator is responsible for preparing complete estimates for commercial roofing projects as required by the client's specifications. While the majority of the Estimator's work is completed within an office environment, occasional site visits are required. The Estimator must possess the ability to communicate efficiently, orally and in writing, and have good public relation skills.

General Information

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Willing to travel.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Applicant must possess a valid driver's license and successfully clear a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely completion of estimates.
  • Review state and local DOT Bulletins and DOT website to identify addendums/revisions or potential jobs for bid consideration.
  • Ensure labor contracts are reviewed to determine current labor rates and premium pay and to identify and jurisdictional issues.
  • Acknowledge receipt of Addenda.
  • Order plans and proposals as directed by Project Managers.
  • Review construction documents, complete take offs, and obtain pricing for materials and subcontractors (DBE contractors).
  • Translate estimated production to CPM schedules.
  • Ensure that all information required to complete job costing reports has been entered into the system.
  • Maintains supplier lists.
  • Ensure that all costs associated with the estimating process are reviewed for accuracy periodically (rent, EOE, insurance, bond).
  • Maintain and update as needed map and plat index and files.
  • Make at least 6 construction site (work-in-progress) visits per year.
  • Participate in turn over meetings.
  • Assist Project Managers as directed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years' estimating experience in either construction or another related field is required.
  • Must be familiar with estimating and scheduling software as well as Microsoft Office.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be very organized in work flow and documentation process.
  • Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously in a lean administrative environment.
  • Effective and proven relationship building skills.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience in commercial roofing construction.
  • A Bachelor's degree in preferably in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or another related field.

Project Manager

Job Summary

Our Project Managers are responsible for managing commercial roofing projects as required by client's specifications. While the majority of the Project Manager's work is completed within an office environment, frequent site visits are required. The Project Manager must possess the ability to communicate efficiently, orally and in writing, and have good team-building and public relation skills.

As a Project Manager, you will:

  • Lead site supervisors, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Gain access to cutting-edge technology.
  • Control project budgets and assure cost-effective performance.
  • Oversee our large in-house inventory of construction equipment.
  • Inspect work in progress to make sure it conforms to our high standards.
  • Assure that construction schedules are met.

Construction Site Foreman

As a Construction Site Foreman, you will:

  • Lead site construction workers and subcontractors.
  • Assure that our construction equipment assets are maintained and available.
  • Interface with Delta's Project Managers.
  • Work with the customer's operations personnel.
  • Direct and inspect the work in progress to make sure it conforms to contract and company standards.
  • Assure that construction schedules are achieved.
  • Monitor and control budgets for project labor and expendable supplies to ensure cost-effective performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of construction activities on large roofing projects.
  • Inspect construction work as necessary and ensure compliance with quality requirements and standards.
  • Be able to perform all of the essential functions of craft workers under his/her supervision.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Plan, diagram, and lay out work.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop a complete understanding of the contract plans and specifications, lay-out, installation and/or construction. Review with Superintendent at the start of and throughout the project.
  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspect subordinates work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
  • Listen to other employee's and supervisor's suggestions, complaints, problems, safety concerns and recommendations, evaluate each and then devise and implement a plan of action based on that evaluation.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform task planning to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of that work assigned.
  • Plan and communicate with purchasing personnel and supervisor to assure that an adequate supply of tools, materials and equipment are available.
  • Monitor quality of work and assure that correct construction procedures are followed and that work is in compliance with the plans and specifications.
  • Complete crew's timecards for correct hours and cost coding.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to subordinates.
  • Monitor productivity rates and review with crew members.
  • Ensure that construction equipment is correctly operated and maintained.
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards.
  • Be self-motivated and work productively. Motivate crews properly.

Job Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team.
  • Prior experience successfully managing commercial roofing projects.
  • Complete, compile, oversee and submit various paperwork related to safety, equipment, etc.
  • Time card and diary entry.
  • Capable of personnel management and accountability.
  • Must be able to work in a safety-conscious manner.
  • Must be self-motivated and goal oriented.
  • Must be results minded.
  • Must have good management skills.
  • Must have ability to schedule work and track results.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of construction practices.
  • Ability to read plans and blueprints.
  • Must be flexible.
  • Have proficient knowledge of local, state and federal regulations.
